Ben and Shannon's Beautiful Beach Wedding
Ben and Shannon's Beautiful Beach Wedding
Every now and then I get to attend a wedding where literally nearly no eye stays dry, and this was one of those days. For many of us it was the first same-sex wedding we had the privilege to attend since the law changed roughly one year ago in Australia. I’d love to say it was no different to any other wedding day, and in many ways it was exactly the same (of course). But it also felt like just that little bit more of a celebration, not just of love, not just of marriage, but that finally! A celebration of equality in marriage.
Ben and Shannon’s wedding day was very casual and relaxed, not at all formal or stuffy. They had all of their friends and family with them in a big gathering to celebrate. First with a touching ceremony at Sturt’s Cottage in Grange, where many a tear was shed and laughter rang out. Then after some beach portraits, it was on to the Palais in Semaphore, where heartfelt speeches, ample (& delicious food), plus plentiful drinks abounded. Finishing up with some sunset portraits, and a deliciously yolky and hazy sun that magically dipped down to the sea.
Congratulations Ben & Shannon! xx
