How much coverage does a wedding photography package give you?
I want to take a little moment to talk to you all about wedding photography packages, how to choose the best one for you, and what you can expect to have covered in each. At the time of writing this blog post, I offer 4 wedding photography packages of 4, 6, 8 or 10 hours, with the option to add extra hours of coverage as you need. But these are just numbers right? How do you know what that means in terms of memories captured?
First, we can talk about how a wedding day is typically broken down. You have the guys getting ready, you have the girls getting ready, you have the ceremony, congratulations, family portraits, bridal party portraits, couple portraits and the reception. With everything from entrance, to cake cutting, to speeches and dancing. Let’s also not forget all those in-between moments, the candid laughter, the little details you’ve worked so hard to put together, and the atmosphere and vibe of the day.
With my packages, you can choose to start and end your photography coverage at any point you choose on the day. Some people want the moments full of anticipation as they get ready for their wedding day with close loved ones captured. Others are all about the party, moments with friends and dancing the night away. Some people want it all! And others are happy with just the intimate moments of their ceremony captured along with beautiful portraits. During every consultation with couples, I’ll happily talk you through the stages of your unique wedding day plans, and your must capture moments along with budget to choose or create the perfect package for you and your needs. But for the purpose of this blog post, let’s look at what you can typically expect to have covered in each of my packages:
Sweet Hearts - 4 hours
- 30-60 minutes of bride preparation photos (the finishing touches)
- 30 minutes pre-ceremony (the atmosphere of your ceremony & guests)
- 30 minutes ceremony
- 60-90 minutes of portraits
- 30-60 minutes of the reception (the feel of the reception, without the events). If you choose to have no preparation photos, you can have more reception coverage.

4 hours coverage, no preparation photos
Sara & Pete >>
4 hours coverage, joint preparation photos
Lovers - 6 hours
- 30 minutes of groom preparation (the finishing touches)
- 60 minutes of bride preparation
- 30 minutes of pre-ceremony (the atmosphere of your ceremony & guests)
- 30 minutes ceremony
- 90 minutes portraits (can include sunset portraits)
- 2 hours of reception coverage

Romantics - 8 hours
- 60 minutes groom preparation

- 30 minutes pre-ceremony (the atmosphere of your ceremony & guests)
- 30 minutes ceremony
- 90 minutes portraits (can include sunset portraits)
- 3 hours of reception coverage

Soul Mates - 10 hours
(My most customised package)
- 90 minutes groom preparation
- 120 minutes bride preparation (normally in two parts)
- 30 minutes pre-ceremony (the atmosphere of your ceremony & guests)
- 30 minutes ceremony
- 90-120 minutes portraits (including sunset portraits)
- 4 hours of reception coverage

I’ve shot tiny elopements that lasted only 90 minutes, through to huge celebrations that lasted 16 hours.
