On Sunday morning, after 2 Sunday mornings in a row of cloudy wet weather, Laura, Jesse and I finally got together bright and early to capture some stunning early morning engagement portraits in the Adelaide CBD. Beginning at just as twilight arrived we experienced the beautiful gradual change of early morning dark to twilight to sunrise to dawn and then early morning sunshine. Last week Anne & Matthew invited me to an amazing part of the world to capture some beautiful maternity portraits. It was a journey full of many sheep and cute lambs, long stretches of ancient, rugged land, old ruins, giant whooshing wind towers and many ooooows and ahhhhhhhs. (mostly from me, haha!) On beautifully warm Anzac Day afternoon I met Amelia, Jesse, their gorgeous 3 month old son Dallas and two crazy, lovely dogs Bosco and Gracie. It’s so nice to have such warm days this far in to Autumn, with the warm weather mimicking the warm tones of Autumn leaves. This little family was so much fun, and full of so much love. Bosco the bulldog was a natural poser, absolutely loving the camera, while excited puppy Gracie was all about the play time and cuddles. Dallas is just adorable with his big blue eyes and shy smile, and the love his parents have for him showed through the entire afternoon.

I had the joy of meeting little Julian and his family late Monday afternoon just before the sun made it’s journey down for the night. Julian so joyfully embodied that curious, energetic and stubborn nature that 2 year olds are so well known for, and it was wonderful to capture him naturally at this beautiful & chaotic age. His entire family is so gorgeous too, inside and out!

Last year I had the honour to meet Minnie and her son JJ, and to share her amazing story of how she came to have her beautiful little boy after so many battles. It’s a real love story that touches your heart. (You can read it here.) We’ve been in touch since then planning another, slightly warmer shoot. Waiting and watching the weather for a clear sunny day that would really make the ocean that gorgeous bright blue colour you get on warm, sunny summer days. On Monday morning we got it! :)

Wednesday was Jasper’s second birthday, and so I met him and his parents at the Botanic Gardens to take some natural photos of them enjoying their time together. Jasper is such a cutie, and really enjoyed his time running around the gardens, chasing bubbles, investigating leaves, opening fun presents, and giving his parents big cuddles! The morning light was beautiful and created little light puddles scattered all around the shady trees. It was the perfect, sunny day for birthdays and photos. Happy birthday again for Wednesday Jasper! xx

That said, there’s something so special about family photos that makes them a true blessing to capture. Especially natural family photos, with the goal of capturing real and organic memories. On warm Friday afternoon, just before the storms from the weekend decided to roll in, I met Stuart, Rene and their beautiful daughter Estelle at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. Estelle is such a cutie, full of joy and energy! It’s completely obvious just how much love there is between every member of this beautiful little family. We walked around the garden with some of her toys, played with bubbles and ran around trees. It was a beautiful afternoon! xx
