Christie & James' Adelaide Winter Wedding
Christie & James' Adelaide Winter Wedding
I've been looking forward to this wedding for a while! Ever since their engagement session in fact, where I got to know just how down to earth, authentic and caring Christie & James are. Spending time with these two is the easiest thing in the world to do. Hanging out, chatting, chilling, jamming and exploring. So I knew that their wedding day would be an absolute blast!
Christie and James both got ready for their wedding day at the Adina Apartment Hotel Adelaide Treasury. It is a very cool old building, and a bit of a maze! Thank goodness I met Christie's sister on my way from James to her, navigating the bizarre staircases and room number arrangements. James spent the morning jamming and laughing with his dad and groomsmen, with a little nip of scotch and a cheeky present from Christie. Christie and the girls had a relaxed morning in their PJs, their hair and makeup looked so stunning, and their was nothing but excitement and happiness and Christie put on her amazing dress.
Literally a 2 minute walk away, they married at the Adelaide Town Hall Meeting Hall, tucked right away in the heart of the city, surrounded by buildings on either side. This little hall had reminiscent high ceilings like an old church, yet was so unassuming. I'd walk passed this building so many times, but never stopped to realise it's purpose. Kate from Blissful Wedding Ceremonies (and my partner at Our Wild Love Elopements) was the officiant of the ceremony. Hired separately even before we met, how's that for fate? As always, she did a beautiful and heartfelt job, with a ceremony that really suited James & Christie and was full of laughter.
As the last hug was hugged at the end of the ceremony, the sun has just set down below the horizon. And so, it was time for the family and bridal portraits to be completed entirely in twilight and darkness. How fun! The Adina Apartments courtyard was the perfect place for family portraits, before the bridal party headed down into the Adina Tunnels with me. Turning the lights off to get a beautiful effect with one little light was awesome! If not a tiny bit spooky, hanging out in dark old tunnels. Definitely fun though!
Their reception at the Ellington was a great way the cap off the day. A big beautiful space, delicious food, and so much dancing!! Thanks so much for having me guys, it was a special day to capture. x
Congratulations Christie & James! xx
